Motz, Oberst place third at West Coast TOC

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — On Saturday, the Albion College women's wrestling team competed at the West Coast Tournament of Champions. 

Sophomore Jayla Oberst placed third at 116. Oberst won her first two matches with decisions of 10-4 and 5-0. After a loss, she rebounded to place in her weight class.

Freshman Danielle Ruiz was 3-2 at 130. All three of her wins came via pins in times of 3:00, 1:51 and 3:19.

At 109, Lynsey Light went 1-2, earning a pin in 3:34. Gabby Motz took third in the weight class, finishing 2-1 on the day. In the third place bout, Motz pinned her opponent in 1:52.

Albion's Hannah Arledge went 2-2 at 136. The freshman pinned her first two opponents of the day in times of 1:20 and :48. 

Also at 136 for the Britons was Hannah Palise. Palise placed fourth in her weight class, earning four victories in the wrestlebacks. Two came via tech falls before going on and pinning the next two. 

Albion will resume competition on Jan. 8 at the Hastings Open in Nebraska.
