Men's swim and dive kicks off season at Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In their 2023-24 season opener, the Albion College men's swim and dive team fell short to Kalamazoo College, 141-93

Starting off the day in the 200 yard medley relay, Albion placed second behind a 1:40.13 effort from Canon Rose, Andrew Woods, Ethan Boersma and Mason Rose.

In the 1000 yard free, Kelvin Crone-Willis was second with a race of 10:45.60.

Albion went 3-4-5 in the 200 yard free, as Evan Steele led the way with a swim of 1:57.02. Esteban Sanchez-Sink was next (1:58.50) followed by Ali Dakroub (2:03.66).

Jalen Hung won the men's 200 IM in 2:01.90. Woods was third (2:11.87). Later in the day, Hung was second in the 500 free, clocking in at 5:11.26.

In the 100 yard butterfly, Boersma was the winner with a time of 54.13.

Sophomore Jeremy Romero won the 3-meter dive with a score of 199.73. In the 1-meter dive, Romero took second, scoring a 192.60.

With a time of 57.59, Canon Rose placed third in the 100 yard backstroke.

In the 100 yard breaststroke, the Britons took the top three spots led by Andrew Woods's 103.88. Owen Schaaf (1:07.95) and Caleb Galvan (1:14.17) were next.

Closing out the day, the 200 yard free relay team of Hung, Jacob Hyde, Crone-Willis and Steele took second (1:35.91).

Next Friday, Albion will head to the MIAA Relays hosted by Calvin University.
