Women third, men fourth at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Over the weekend, the Albion College swim and dive teams competed in a Quadrangle against Calvin, Ohio Northern and Carthage. The women scored 439 points, coming in third, as the men were fourth with 247 points. 

Below is a listing of those finishing in the top eight of their respective events. 

On Friday, the evening started with a fourth place finish in the 200 yard free relay. The team of Sage Gettings, Bryn Cavanaugh, Mattie Smith and Hannah Fathman swam a time of 1:41.36.

Smith placed third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:14.75.

With a time of 24.09, Fathman was second in the 50 yard free.

Jeremy Romero scored a 395.03 to take fifth in the 1-meter dive. 

Alexis Glaser, Smith, Gettings and Fathman recorded a time of 4:06.03 to place third in the 400 yard medley relay. 

Sarah Stone was second in the 3-meter dive, scoring a 318.07.

Starting off the Saturday morning session, Albion had three divers place in the 1-meter dive. Sophomore Sarah Weissman was second, scoring a 328.58, while Megan Shay placed third (310.96). Stone was fourth in the event with a score of 305.11.

In the 200 yard medley relay, Albion's quartet of Alexis Glaser, Smith, Gettings and Fathman took second with a time of 1:50.01. On the men's side, the Britons finished eighth, clocking in at 1:41.71. The team was composed of Canon Rose, Andrew Woods, Ethan Boersma and Richard Pifer

Logging a new season-best time was Gettings in the 100 yard fly. Gettings's time of 59.36 was good for second place. Fathman was fourth, swimming a race of 1:00.71.

Boersma also recorded a new season-best in the 100 yard butterfly, taking seventh with a swim of 53.18.

Smith's season best time in the 100 yard breaststroke earned the junior a second place finish. Smith finished in 1:07.14. Freshman Alyssa Glaser swam a time of 1:14.83, good for seventh in the event. 

Alexis Glaser's time of 1:03.85 was good for sixth in the 100 yard backstroke. In the men's race, Canon Rose took eighth, swimming a 57.28.

With a score of 345.36, Romero finished fourth in the 3-meter dive. 

In Saturday's evening session, Cavanaugh started the night by taking seventh in the 1650 free. The senior swam a 19:39.57. For the men, Kelvin Crone-Willis was also seventh, racing a 17:46.06.

Taking eighth in the 200 yard backstroke was Alexis Glaser (2:20.34.).

Fathman swam a 56.44 to claim eighth in the 100 yard freestyle. 

In the 200 yard breaststroke, Smith swam a 2:25.67 to win the event. 

The weekend ended with the 400 yard free relay. The women's team of Gettings, Smith, Cavanaugh and Glaser was sixth to wrap up the meet. 

Both teams will compete at the Wabash Invitational Nov. 17-19.
