Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Late goal sinks women's lacrosse

ALBION – A late goal sealed the fate for the Albion College women's lacrosse team, falling to John Carroll University, 9-7. The Blue Streaks scored with 19 seconds on the clock to ice the game and hand the Brits a home loss following a 10 day hiatus.

Senior captain Addie Pastor led all scorers with four goals on the afternoon. Pastor now has a MIAA best 32 on the season through seven games.

After JCU took an early 2-0 lead, the Brits answered back when Olilvia Dameron tallied an unassisted goal. With 3:38 to play, a team of sophomores knotted the game up when Kellie Flynn found Kyndall Lewis. Through one period, the teams were locked at two.

Out of the second, the Blue Streaks scored twice in the first 75 seconds before Albion answered with a 3-0 run. In that stretch, the hosts received two goals from Pastor and one by Aaliyah Eudabe to take a 5-4 advantage. John Carroll responded before the half, regaining the lead 6-5.

The two teams traded goals early in the third before holding each other scoreless for the final 12:39 of the period. Despite Albion scoring with 4:36 on the clock to get within one, JCU's late goal was the dagger.

Angelina Mendieta led Albion with four ground balls. The senior also recorded a new career-high with five caused turnovers.

Nicole Miller stopped nine shots in the game.

Albion controlled just four draws in the match compared to 16 by the visitors.

The Britons will have a week to recover before hosting another home game. On Mar. 26, Albion will welcome North Central for a 12 p.m. game.
