Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Carre-Font, Swaton lead MSOC past Grace Christian

The duo combined for eight points in the win.

ALBION – Brett Swaton netted his MIAA-leading seventh goal of the season in the Albion College men's soccer team's 4-1 victory over Grace Christian University. The senior scored twice within a minute of each other, propelling the Brits to the win.

Albion improves to 4-2 overall while the Tigers fall to 1-5-1.

The Tigers got on the board first in the 14th minute, but Albion rallied to take a 2-1 edge by halftime. After being awarded a penalty kick, Alex Carre-Font capitalized for the second time in as many games, tying the match at one. Four minutes later, Carre-Font played a corner into Grady Lycan, whose header beat the GCU keeper for a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, Swaton's first goal of the night came in the 54th minute, off a pass from none other than Carre-Font. Carre-Font slotted a beautiful ball ahead to Swaton to boost the lead to 3-1. Seconds later, Karl Hunt found Swaton for his season goal of the night to cap off the scoring.

Freshman keeper Dario Vujic made three saves in net. The Britons handily outshot the Tigers by an 18-6 margin.

In addition to Swaton now leading the MIAA in goals (7) and points (14), Carre-Font is tied for the league lead in assists (3).

On Saturday, Albion will travel to a tough UW-Platteville team for a 12 p.m. CST kickoff.
