XC returns to action in Ohio

POWELL, Ohio – In their second 8K/6K race of the season, the Albion College cross country teams competed at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational. A young women's squad placed sixth out of 13 teams, while the men placed 13th out of 15th.

Leading the women's team were juniors Fatima Cruz and Olivia DeGraaf. Cruz ran a time of 24:18.1, good for 36th overall, while DeGraaf was 38th with a race of 24:24.6. Helena Abbott was next for the Britons with a time of 24:32.5. Just behind her was freshman Cassandra Gallagher with a time of 24:37.3.

Serena Arnold (26:34.5), Taylor Adams (27:01.9) and Kyra Shouldice (27:28.5) were next up for Albion. Rounding out the team was Melanie Symons, Veronica Panniccia and Megan Chipman.

On the men's side, Albion was led by Logan Vining's 27:34.4. Freshman Alexander Hammond was next with a time of 28:59.3.

Josiah Graddick (29:00.2), Houston Bowen Jr. (29:02.4) and Ruark Wicka (29:03.6) were all within seconds of each other. Connor Clark and Dalton Weber closed out the team.

The teams will compete next at the Mike Woods Invitational, held by SUNY-Geneseo on Oct. 14.
