Men's soccer drops heartbreaker in PKs

mANGOLA, Ind. — After eight rounds of penalty kicks, the Albion College men's soccer team's season came to a close in heartbreaking fashion. The Britons dropped a 1-1 (6-5 PK) decision to Trine University in the MIAA Semifinals.

Trine scored midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. A resilient Britons squad continued to pressure the Thunder, searching for the equalizer. With just over 12 minutes remaining, the Thunder was whistled for a hand ball in the box, allowing Albion to take a penalty kick.

Caption Nick Miller calmly stepped up and buried the PK – his third straight game with a goal.

In overtime, Trine had the best chance of either team late in the second period. With five minutes remaining, Trine was awarded a free kick just infront of the goal. Albion's back line and goalkeeper Tom Veresh stayed tough, with Veresh coming away with the save.

In PKs, Albion received goals from Miller, Pablo Caturla Rubio, Brett Swaton, Emanuele Principi and Ivan Murillo
