Women's tennis makes strides in Florida

Box Score 1 ORLANDO, Fla. – In a spring trip filled with tough competition, the Albion College women's tennis team went 0-3 at the USTA National Training Center in Orlando. Despite the losses, the Britons saw bright spots on the week. 

The trip opened with a 9-0 loss against Concordia (Wis.). On Wednesday, Albion fell to Saint Mary's (MN) by an 8-1 margin. In the loss, senior Keiley Black earned a huge win at third singles. In tiebreaker fashion, Black won 6-3, 1-6, 10-8. 

Despite California taking all three doubles matches, freshmen Abbie Hubbard and Molly Dunn gritted out big wins in their singles matches. At fourth singles, Hubbard won by a 6-3, 7-6(4) margin before Dunn picked up a 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 win at sixth singles. 

The Britons head to Kalamazoo College on Mar. 16 for a 1 p.m. match to kick off conference play.
