Game Recap: Softball |

Miller, Wilkin lead offense

ALBION – Kearney Miller had a solid day at the plate, as the Albion College softball team was swept by Adrian College. The Bulldogs won the opener by a 7-3 margin, before a battle that featured lead change after lead change went Adrian's way, 10-9.

GAME ONE: Adrian 7 Albion 3

Adrian scored the first seven runs of the game, all coming in the later innings. The three Briton runs came off the bat of Kearney Miller. Courtney Ellis walked to lead off the frame and Emma Schram followed with a single to left. With two away, Chloe Miller smacked a single to load the bases for Kearney Miller. The junior launched a double off the fence, clearing the bases for all three of Albion's runs.

The Britons left seven runners on base in game one, as the pitching staff allowed nine free passes.

GAME TWO: Adrian 10 Albion 9

In a wild game that featured plenty of runs, the Britons fell in the nightcap after allowing three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ellis and Kearney Miller each led the way for Albion, accounting for three RBI each.

Miller, Ellis, Jacqueline Jozefczyk and Kiersten Wilkin all finished with a pair of hits in the slugfest. Wilkin also crushed a no-double home run to left field for the Brits – her first of her collegiate career.

Kearney Miller finished with two doubles in the loss. She now has a team-high 10 doubles on the season.

Albion continues MIAA action on Thursday with a twinbill against Kalamazoo College. Game times are scheduled for 3 and 5 p.m.
