Women's swim and dive falls to Hillsdale

ALBION – Back in the pool for the first time since their training trip, the Albion College women's swimming and diving team narrowly fell to Hillsdale College, 111-100.

Starting off the day with a win, the 200 medley relay quartet of Alexis Glaser, Mattie Smith, Emily Evers and Hannah Fathman clocked a 1:52.03. Smith later went on to win the 200 yard IM, clocking a time of 2:14.05. Evers placed sixth in the event, as Alyssa Glaser took eighth.

In the 200 yard free, Kaitlyn Kreb finished fourth (2:10.66) and Mikala Muccino (2:18.91) was fifth.

Fathman followed, winning the 50 free with a race of 24.21. Freshman Charlotte Nguyen was just behind in second, recording a time of 25.94. In seventh was Chalondra Jewell's 27.84.

Sophomore Sarah Kohler won the 1-meter dive, scoring a 209.47. Megan Shay was just behind in second (200.25) and Sarah Weissman (198.67) closely finished third.

Kreb and Alexis Glaser were sixth and seventh in the 100 yard butterfly. Fathman later won the 100 yard free in 53.71. Jewell placed fifth (1:02.39) and Laurel Campbell was sixth (1:02.82). In the 500 yard free, Evers and Muccino went 3-4.

The 200 free relay team of Smith, Evers, Alyssa Glaser and Kreb was third, turning in a 1:52.17.

Alexis Glaser's 1:06.05 was good for second in the 100 yard backstroke. Nguyen and Campbell were sixth and seventh in the event. Smith won her second individual event of the day in the 100 yard breaststroke with a 1:07.20.

Next Saturday, Albion heads to Calvin for a MIAA Tri-Meet beginning at 1 p.m.
