RESULTS
ALBION, Mich. – A fast start led to the Albion men's swimming & diving team's 141-94 win over Kalamazoo in the season-opening dual meet at the Dean Aquatic Center.
The Britons, led by second-year head coach
Eric Murray, won their first five events.
The run was started by
Evan Steele,
Tyler Deubel,
Jalen Hung and
Harper Prutch, who took first with a mark of 1:43.27 in the 200 medley relay.
Albion then went 1-2 in the 1,000 freestyle, with
Wesley Jenkins taking home the crown (11:02.84) and
Caleb Galvan behind (11:46.22).
Hung won the 200 freestyle (1:54.74), while Prutch was the fastest swimmer in the 50 freestyle (22.80).
Will Pentland (24.70) placed second in the event.
Deubel took home the 200 IM (2:04.22), and
Steven Matyas placed second in the 100 butterfly (57.05).
The Britons swept the podium in the 100 freestyle, as Prutch (51.66), Pentland (53.92) and
Brody Roberts (54.95) went 1-2-3. They also did the same in the 500 freestyle, with Hung (5:21.76), Jenkins (5:24.64) and Galvan (5:49.76) representing the home squad.
Steele placed second in the 100 backstroke (59.70), while Deubel won the 100 breaststroke (1:07.38) with
Spencer Lukasik (1:11.73) in runner-up.
In the final event of the meet, the 200 freestyle relay quartet of Pentland, Roberts, Jenkins and Matyas put the cherry on top with a winning time of 1:35.96.
The Britons' best diver was
Jeremy Romero, who took second in the one-meter (228.45) and three-meter (228.65) events.
