Swim and dive honors seniors on Saturday

ALBION – Celebrating its large senior class, the Albion College swim and dive teams fell to Aquinas College in their regular season finale. The women's team dropped a 191-139 decision, as the men fell 210-119. 

Albion started by winning the 200 medley relay with Alexis Glaser, Mattie Smith, Hannah Fathman and Kaitlyn Kreb (1:50.66). The men's team took second with a time of 1:41.48, composed of Jalen Hung, Owen Schaaf, Ethan Boersma and Billy Barr

Emily Evers was fourth in the 1000 free (12:16.65). Kelvin Crone-Willis won the men's event with a 10:13.70, as Caleb Galvan swam a 11:44.73 to finish third. Hung later won the 200 yard free, while Kreb placed third in the women's race. 

In the 100 yard backstroke, the women's team had three race with Alexis Glaser taking third, Charlotte Nguyen finishing fifth and Chalondra Jewell taking sixth. Richard Pifer was fourth in the men's event, as Esteban Sanchez-Sink was seventh. Following with the 100 yard breaststroke, Smith placed second in the women's event, as Crone-Willis (third) and Schaaf (fifth) were in the men's event. 

Ethan Boersma won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.29. On the women's side, Mikala Muccino placed fourth. In the 200 back, Alexis Glaser swam to a second place finish and Hung was third for the men.

With a 24.18, Fathman won the 50 yard free and Barr won the men's race (20.99). Later in the day, the two went on to sweep the 100 yard free as well. 

In the 1-meter dive, Megan Shay's 219.00 was good for second and Sarah Weissman's 213.00 was good for third. Jeremy Romero scored a 270.20 to finish second in the men's event, as Anders Forster was seventh. 

Smith finished with a 2:30.87 to win the 200 yard breaststroke. In the men's race, Schaaf and Galvan took third and fourth. Crone-Willis claimed another victory, this one coming in the 500 yard free. In the women's race, senior Laurel Campbell took third. 

Boersma was the runner-up in the 100 yard butterfly, as Kreb was fourth for the women. In the 3-meter dive, Romero's 242.60 was good for third. 

Fathman, Kreb, Nguyen and Smith won the 200 free relay. Barr, Hung, Pifer and Crone-Willis were second in the men's race. 

Albion will spend the next few weeks preparing for the MIAA Championships, to be held Feb. 19-22.
