Director of Athletics Jennifer Rushton has announced the hiring of Jolynn Harris as the next Head Women's Wrestling Coach. Harris, a former two-sport athlete at Colorado Mesa University will begin her role with the Britons on July 14.
Since 2023, Harris has been an assistant wrestling coach at her alma mater. In her time at Colorado Mesa, she oversaw pre-meet warmups, assisted in weight maintenance of athletes, and creating practice plans.Â
"We are so excited to have Jolynn take over the reins of Albion College Women's Wrestling," said Rushton. "Jolynn has the energy and passion to lead this program and take it to new heights. She is committed to excellence in all facets and will help our student-athletes reach their full potential, both on and off the mat. Her background as a student-athlete and coach speaks for itself. I look forward to welcoming Jolynn to campus and supporting her in this role."
Beyond wrestling, Harris brings a wealth of coaching experience. In addition to her time on the mats, Harris has coached diving, as well as power tumbling and trampoline.Â
"I'm incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of Head Women's Wrestling Coach at Albion College," said Harris. "I sincerely want to thank Jennifer Rushton, Tom Hall and the search committee for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. This is such an exciting time of women's wrestling, and I'm grateful to be a part of a College that values both academic and athletic excellence."
This January at the NCAA Convention, women's wrestling became an official NCAA Championship sanctioned sport for the 2025-26 school year. Additionally, the Britons have had multiple national qualifiers in each year of the program's existence.Â
"I also want to thank all of the wrestling coaches I've had throughout my career—each of you played a role in helping me fall in love with this sport and inspired me to give back to it in a meaningful way," added Harris. "I'm looking forward to building a strong, supportive team culture where our student-athletes can grow, compete, and succeed—on the mat and in life. Albion has a proud tradition, and I'm excited to add to that as we grow this program together."
