ALBION, Mich. -- After helping carry the Britons to a thrilling 45-39 double overtime victory against Bluffton on Saturday, sophomore standout Alex Trudell was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. 

Trudell is the first Britons running back to earn the national weekly honor since Mike Czarnecki earned the honor during the first week of the 2015 campaign and the first selection from Albion since Devin Fridley-Bell was recognized in 2023. 

The sophomore was the engine behind Albion's 45-point outing against the Beavers. In just his second career start, the sophomore turned 21 carries into 143 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, including both scores in the overtime periods. He also tacked on four catches for 67 yards and a touchdown that went for 38 yards. On Albion's eight offensive plays during overtime, Trudell rushed the ball on six of them.

On the season, Trudell ranks 15 in the nation in both total touchdowns total points scored. His 264 rushing yards are good for 20 across all of NCAA Division III. 

Trudell and the Britons will look for their second-straight win on Saturday, September 13, when they host Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium. The non-conference tilt is set for a noon kickoff.
