Men's Soccer Stumbles Against Chicago

ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion men's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the University of Chicago, 5-0, at Alumni Field.

Not even a minute into the match, the Maroons had a penalty kick opportunity which they took full advantage of and made it, 1-0.

Roughly seven minutes later, Chicago added another score to take a 2-0 lead. Later in the 34th and 36th minutes, the Maroons buried two more goals to make it a 4-0 match at the half.

The Briton defense tightened in the second half, but they allowed a late goal in the 83rd minute that put the icing on the cake for the Maroons.

All five Chicago goals were scored by different players, registered just three shots on net compared to the Maroons' 12.

Tom Veresh was tested early and often in net, as he made a season-high seven saves.
