KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Albion College men's tennis team made the trip to nearby Kalamazoo to test its mettle at the ITA Regionals over this weekend.
Carter Kendall and
Brendan Morrison took the court in singles action. In the main draw, Carter battled Adam Memije from Allegheny College, but was unable to find a way past him in a 6-1, 6-1 match. Morrison fell 6-0, 6-1, against Allegheny's Levente Mihaly.
The competition continued for the Britons in the consolation draw. Kendall challenged Ajer Sher from the University of Chicago, but came up short in a 8-1 match. Morrison pushed Clark Hersam of Franklin College in a competitive tilt, but the match went the way of Hersam, 8-4.
In doubles action,
Josh Doyle and
Jacob Doyle partnered against Allegheny's Olivier Erkens and Levente Mihaly. The Britons kept the match close, but dropped an 8-2 decision. In the consolation bracket, the Britons took the team of Ian Turnbull and Griffin Hammond from Illinois Wesleyan University to the brink. The match went to a tiebreak, but Albion fell, 7-3 as the Titans' duo advanced.
