Albion falls to Heidelberg in double header

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALBION- The Albion Britons were swept in Sunday's doubleheader against Heidelberg, falling
5–4 in game one and 10–5 in game two.

Game 1 vs. Heidelberg

Albion and Heidelberg battled through a defensive, extra-inning matchup, with Heidelberg
ultimately edging out a 4-5 victory in eight innings. Despite the loss, the Britons recorded nine
hits and four RBIs. Lilly Zaskowski was strong in the circle, finishing with six strikeouts and no
walks.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, when freshman Elaina
Braunscheidel delivered a clutch RBI double to bring home Kaitlyn Ruselink for a 1–0 lead. In
the fourth inning, Allie Trantham added another RBI double, scoring Jaden Henderson to extend
the lead to 2–0.

Albion added another run in the bottom of the fifth to go up 3–0, but Heidelberg responded with
two runs in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 3–2. The visitors carried that momentum into
the late innings, tying the game in the seventh before adding two more runs in the eighth to take
a 3-5 lead.

The Britons threatened late but were unable to complete the comeback, ultimately falling 4-5.

Game 2 vs. Heidelberg

In game two, the Britons struggled defensively and were unable to keep Heidelberg off the
scoreboard, ultimately falling 10–5.

Lilly Zaskowski and Elaina Braunscheidel led Albion offensively. Zaskowski recorded two hits
and one RBI, while Braunscheidel added two hits and two RBIs.

Albion got off to a strong start in the first inning, with Zaskowski driving in Braunscheidel. The
Britons held a 2–1 lead after one. Both teams added a run in the second to make it 3–2.
Heidelberg broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring four runs to take a 5-7 lead. Albion
was unable to regain momentum at the plate, while Heidelberg added three more runs over the
final innings to secure the 5-10 victory.

The Britons hit the road Tuesday to face Bluffton University in a doubleheader, with first pitch
scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
