MANCHESTER, Ind. — The Albion softball team split with Manchester, winning the first game 14-2 in five innings and falling in the second game, 8-0, also in five innings.
Game 1
The Britons delivered a dominant performance at the plate in game one, racking up 16 hits, led by an outstanding showing from freshman Ryley Frank. In the circle, Lilly Zaskowski was equally impressive, recording five strikeouts while allowing just two earned runs.
Albion wasted no time getting on the board, erupting for six runs in the first inning. Allie Trantham sparked the offense with a two-RBI single to left-center, and Frank followed with a three-run home run over the left field fence to give the Britons a 6–0 lead.
The momentum carried into the second inning, as Cameron McDonald doubled to left to drive in Jessie Anstandig. Frank added to her big day with another RBI, extending Albion's lead to 10–1.
Frank stayed hot at the plate, later delivering a three-run double to score McDonald, Layla Vallone, and Kaitlyn Ruselink, pushing the score to 14–2. Manchester was unable to respond, and Albion secured the run-rule victory in five innings.
Frank recorded eight RBI at the dish, matching Trantham's season-best total from the first game against Grace Christian two days prior.
Game 2
In game two, the Britons struggled to find their rhythm at the plate, falling 8–0 in five innings. Albion was limited to just two hits, coming from Lilly Zaskowski and Emma Schramm.
Manchester set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding three more in the second. The Britons were unable to generate any offense throughout the game, and Manchester sealed the victory.
