Baseball's Memorable Season Ends Against Alma in MIAA Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. — The Albion baseball team's memorable season came to an end in the MIAA Tournament, as they dropped their second game of the tournament, 14-7, to No. 2 seed Alma at Adrian's Nicolay Field.

The Britons ended their 2026 campaign with a 23-19 record — their best since 2006. The win total also is tied for third in a single season in program history.

Albion scored the first five runs of the game. Evan Schuster reached on a fielder's choice that scored Drew Ribble in the third to plate the initial score. Two batters later and with two outs, Carter Stahl mashed a three-run shot to left field to make it 4-0.

In the fifth, the Britons tacked on one more via a Gavin White sacrifice fly.

Alma unloaded in the sixth with nine runs. They got their first three batters into the frame on an error and two more on a single to cut the deficit to 5-3. After Quinn Lewis relieved starter Daniel Bruzdewicz, the Scots stole home to pull within one. They tied it up on a double and plated two more on sacrifice flies and two on a triple.

The Britons made up some ground in the home half of the frame off RBI singles from Drew Ribble and Evan Schuster and pull within two.

However, the Scots added five insurance runs in the eighth on a two-RBI single and a three-run home run.

Bruzdewicz went the first five innings and did not allow his first base runner until the fourth. The senior gave up six hits, five runs, a walk and struck out three. Lewis received the loss, while Jack Renner, Zak Kelly and Brandon Lipson also saw time on the bump.

Albion tallied nine hits as a team, with Schuster, Ribble and Jonjay Arreazola recording two each.
