Albion, Mich. - The Albion Men's Soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over the Cougars of Cleary on Wednesday night.
The Britons struck early with a goal by Binak-Jan Bakker inside the goal area off the pass from
Ryan Anderson in the 14th minute. The first half would be a back and forth battle as both teams would take seven shots in the opening 45. The Britons would get close to an early 2-0 lead after a free kick by
Robin Ruigendijk from just outside the box would hit the post and Khalili Camara would just put a bit too much on it to clean it up. Briton goalie
Tom Veresh would record three saves to keep the Brits with the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
The Britons offense would come out more aggressive in the second half out shooting the Cougars 10-5. Both goalies would record three saves to keep the Brits at the 1-0 lead. It would not be until the 83rd minute that
Ivan Murillo would find space and put the ball past the Cougars goalie to give the Brits a late 2-0 lead. Murillo's goal would come as a clean up to three other shot attempts that just missed the goal.
Murillo lead the team with five shots, followed closely by Ruigendijk with four. Anderson recorded the lone assist for the Britons.
The Britons return to action on Sunday September 20th at 12 PM as they host #21 North Central.
