OLIVET, Mich. - The Albion College swimming & diving teams were defeated in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet at Olivet College Saturday, Jan. 15. In the men's meet, Albion was edged by a 147-94 score. In the women's meet, Albion came up on the short end of a 160-80 final.
Senior Will Green and sophomore diver Dan Fradeneck led the Briton men with a pair of first-place performances. Green was the first swimmer to complete the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:10.78) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.52). Fradeneck topped the field on the 1-meter (240.23) and 3-meter (242.20) boards.
Sophomore Chase Bacon also scored a first-place performance for the Briton men, touching the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.94. Bacon also was the runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.36.
Sophomore diver Brandon Reiss was second to Fradeneck in both diving events. His score on the 1-meter board was 235.15, and 205.50 on the 3-meter board.
Juniors A.J. Dancho and John Fodell also turned in second-place performances in individual events. Dancho was the runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.52), while Fodell was the second swimmer to touch the wall in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.87).
In relay action, Albion's 400 medley team of Dancho, Fodell, Bacon, and first-year athlete Michael Frenchi finished second with a time of 3:42.38.
