ALBION, Mich. - The Albion College men's swimming & diving team came up one event shy of knocking off Calvin College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet at the Dean Aquatic Center Saturday, Jan. 29. The visiting Knights swept the top two places in the 200-yard freestyle relay to score a 118-113 victory over the Britons.
In the women's meet, Albion gained a split in a MIAA double dual meet. The Britons knocked off Saint Mary's College, 157-72, but bowed to Calvin, 164-78.
Senior swimmer Will Green and sophomore diver Dan Fradeneck claimed first place in two events to lead the Britons. Green topped the field in the 200 and 500 freestyles with times of 1:46.15 and 4:52.76, respectively. Fradeneck posted a score of 293.50 on the 1-meter board, and 256.20 on the 3-meter board.
Also scoring first-place performances for the Briton men were junior A.J. Dancho with a 10:40.63 in the 1,000-yard freestyle and junior John Fodell with a 2:16.76 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Sophomore diver Brandon Reiss was the runner up in both diving events (262.30 on the 1-meter; 230.40 on the 3-meter). Freshman Michael Frenchi was second in two swimming events, with a time of 22.95 seconds in the 50 free and 49.67 seconds in the 100 free. Also posting runner-up finishes for the men was sophomore Chase Bacon with a time of 2:01.91 in the 200 fly.
