GRAND RAPIDS – Jake Taber made his debut as Albion College's swimming & diving coach in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Relays. The season-opening meet was not scored.
Albion's best finish came in the women's 4x100 individual medley. The team of Mackenzie Chesley, Julie Okorn, Anna Hargrove, and Haley DeFeyter posted a second-place time of 4:22.51.
Okorn also participated in Albion's fifth-place finish in the 200 butterfly relay. She was joined by Lindy Williams, Claire Van Raaphorst, and Lauren Pawelec on the swim that took 1:58.65 to complete.
Pawelec joined the fourth-place team in the 100 breaststroke relay. The Briton team – which included Claire Wittkowski, Olivia Dynes and Emily Pinter – posted a time of 1:04.73.
Albion finished fourth in three men's events – the 500 freestyle relay, the 4x100 individual medley and the 100 butterfly relay. Landon Lefler and Josh Boren swam in all three events.
Albion begins the dual meet season with home events the weekend of Oct. 26-27. The Britons will challenge Saint Mary's College in a women's meet Friday and the men and women will host Kalamazoo College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
