Fiorillo, Lefler Lead Albion In The Pool

HOLLAND, Mich. – Brian Fiorillo swam to first place in the 100-yard freestyle and to second place in three other events, and Landon Lefler earned first place in the 100-yard breaststroke and two other events to lead Albion College in a 168-115 loss to Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association swimming & diving dual meet.

Fiorillo was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle and he was a member of the Britons' second-place 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams. Lefler was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley.

Paul Lewis, who competed in the pool for the first time this season, finished at the top of the standings in 1-meter diving, and Josh Boren beat the competition to the wall in the 200-yard individual medley. Boren added second-place points in the 200-yard butterfly and third-place points in the 200-yard backstroke.

Also contributing second-place finishes for the Britons were Garret Bosworth in the 200-yard breaststroke, Brad Melpolder in the 1,650-yard freestyle and Tom Parsons in the 200-yard backstroke.

Albion will compete at home for the final time this season Feb. 2 when Calvin College visits the Dean Aquatic Center. The first event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
