HOLLAND, Mich. – Margaux Kabodian reached the semifinals of the singles 'B' draw, Marissa Cloutier lost in the quarterfinals of the singles 'A' draw, and Christina Khim won the singles 'C' back draw as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's tennis players gathered for the league's fall flighted tournament.
Kabodian started her run through the 'B' draw with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Calvin's Bethany Zoerhof. She was tested by Trine's Bailey Denton for a set in the round of 16, but advanced by scores of 7-6 (3), 6-1. She punched her ticket to the semifinal with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Hope's Marie Holaway. Hope's Stephanie Huffman stopped Kabodian's run by scores of 6-2 and 7-5.
Cloutier earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kalamazoo's Jenna Riehl, but Hope's Carli Capestsany proved too strong in a super breaker to decide the quarterfinal match after they split the first two sets.
Khim outlasted Olivet's Lacey Risner, 10-7, and Calvin's Emily Sprague, 13-11, in super breakers to advance in the back draw of the 'C' bracket.
