Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Albion College holds fourth place on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association table because it has been able to salvage points from close matches.
The Britons remained unbeaten in overtime this season when it played to a 1-1 draw with Adrian College at Alumni Field. Albion, 9-4-2 overall, is now 3-0-2 in contests that have gone to extra time. Albion, 5-4-2 against its league rivals, holds a three-point lead over Calvin College in the chase for the final berth in the MIAA Tournament.
Albion pressed to win the contest in the second overtime period, and Domenique Sarnecky just missed a couple of glorious scoring chances. She had two shots in the final two minutes, one sailed over the goal and a header narrowly went wide.
"We are real proud of the effort to try to win," Albion Coach Eric Scott said. "Domenique got herself in great moments and locations, and on any other day she would have put either of those shots in the net."
Jenna Urso finished a breakaway as Albion claimed the lead in the 18th minute. Urso stuck the ball between the legs of an Adrian defender and she broke through when the defender slipped on the rain-soaked turf. It was Urso's ninth goal of the year.
Erin Weide scored the equalizer with 10 ½ minutes left in regulation.
The box score reports an evenly-played contest with Adrian taking one more shot than Albion (15-14). Sarnecky took four of Albion's six shots on goal.
Albion's next two contests are on the road. The Britons travel to Kalamazoo College for a noon match on Saturday and to Calvin next Wednesday.
