ALMA, Mich. – Albion had the top three swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke and 100 breaststroke and it was the wave of points from that depth that carried the Britons to a 161 ½ -101 ½ victory over Alma in a dual meet of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals.
First-year swimmers David Alday and Kyle Harvey were finished first and third, respectively, and sophomore Nick Deppner was the runner-up in the backstroke. Sophomore Derek Bosko led first-year swimmers Cam Ragan and Parker Belmore to the wall in the breaststroke.
Bosko also helped Albion take first-place points in the 200 freestyle relay and he finished second individually in the 200 free. Bosko was joined on the relay by Wes Boggs, Tom Martin and Lucas Harder.
Albion had the top two performers in the 1,650 freestyle and 50 breaststroke. Harvey won the distance freestyle by eight seconds over Andrew Mattson. Garret Bosworth was the winner of the breaststroke with Ragan coming in second.
Jacob Maurer earned first-place points in 1-meter diving and Sebastian Tostado tied for first place in the 50 freestyle.
Albion is idle until Dec. 5-6 when it swims in the Carthage (Wis.) College Invitational.
