Still Undefeated Against League Rivals

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College stayed undefeated against its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals Tuesday, scoring an 8-1 victory over Trine University inside the Ungrodt Tennis Center.

Albion started by winning all three doubles contests. The No. 2 team of Marissa Cloutier and Heather Vogt were not on the court long as they earned an 8-2 victory to improve to 13-0 on the year. Katie Blumberg and Irene Chen were forced to play a bunch of points, but they earned an 8-3 victory. Christina Khim and Lauren Rasmussen pulled out a tie-breaker in the No. 3 flight.

Albion lost just six games in winning the top four singles flights. Chen and Vogt won their respective singles matches by identical 6-0, and 6-1 scores. Blumberg won the No. 2 flight 6-0, 6-3. Blumberg and Chen now boast 13-1 singles records.

Khim earned Albion's point at the bottom of the singles lineup. She won a second set tie-breaker to finish the match.

Albion, 12-1 overall and 6-0 against MIAA rivals, has two of the top teams in the league remaining on its schedule. Albion travels to Kalamazoo College Saturday and hosts Hope College April 23.
