KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Albion College lost its chance at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's tennis championship with a 7-2 setback at Kalamazoo College Saturday, but there is a lot at stake Wednesday when the Britons host Hope in the regular season finale.
The Britons, 12-2 overall and 6-1 against MIAA rivals, need a win over the Flying Dutch to secure home court advantage for a semifinal match in the league tournament.
Katie Blumberg and Irene Chen scored an impressive victory at No. 1 doubles. They knocked off the 14th-ranked team in the region, 8-6. Blumberg added a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles. Chen forced a super breaker to decide the No. 3 singles contest.
