MEQUON, Wis. – The Albion College football team wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule Saturday night to the tune of a 57-20 drubbing of Concordia University (Wisconsin). The explosive Briton offense amassed 629 total yards, the highest mark since Albion College won the MIAA Championship in 2005.
Quarterback Dominick Bona continued to impress, connecting on 12 of his 24 passing attempts for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 59 yards on the ground.
Albion's dynamic backfield duo — the lightning, Mike Czarnecki, and the thunder, Colin Parks — wreaked havoc on the Falcon front-seven. Czarnecki carried the ball 21 times for 155 yards and a touchdown, while Parks had 17 carries for 98 yards and 4 touchdowns. Freshman runningback Tyler Schingeck also got in on the action finding the end-zone for the first time in his career on a 20-yard scamper late in the fourth quarter.
Trailing 13-7 in the second quarter, Bona led the Britons on a six play, 65 yard drive capped by a bruising eight-yard run by Parks, and Albion never looked back. Albion scored 44 unanswered points to cement the victory.
Joseph Mayone had three receptions for 124 yards and Cody Crawford had five receptions for 55 yards. Tyler White, Kyle Slotnick, Jon Alandt, and Zach Brigham combined for six catches.
The swarming Albion defense had another impressive performance, forcing four turnovers, finding the ballcarrier in the backfield five times, and allowing just 5.8 yards per play. Cornerback Anthony Waite led the Britons with nine tackles. Terron Bridgeman and Jose Rodriguez added eight tackles apiece.
Albion looks to carry their impressive non-conference performance into MIAA play when they host Hope College on October 4th at 1 o'clock.
