CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - Albion College swimmers won nine of the 16 events contested in a dual meet against Wabash College.
Wabash produced the top three finishers in the 1,650-yard freestyle and the top two in the sprint freestyle and 3-meter diving events to achieve a 163-137 victory in the dual meet.
"They were just deeper than us," Albion Coach Jake Taber said. "They were among the top 15 or 20 teams in the final dual meet rankings before conference championships last year and they did not graduate much. This was a great meet for us to have, particularly early in the year. We were pretty good today and that was exciting."
Multiple event winners for the Britons included Gerardo Huidobro in the breaststroke events, Nate Kozycki in the butterfly events and Sebastian Tostado in the 200 freestyle and 100 individual medley.
Parker Belmore was first to the wall in the 50 backstroke and Henry Swett was the top scorer in 1-meter diving.
Tostado, Huidobro, Kozycki and Belmore added first place points in the 400 medley relay.
Albion will get its first look at its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals in an Oct. 24 relay meet at Calvin College.
