GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Albion College hoped for one mistake that would allow it to score on the counter.

The Britons got one glorious scoring chance Tuesday as Domenique Sarnecky got free for a breakaway, but Calvin College goalkeeper Holly Ellerbroek was up to the challenge with a sliding save.

Albion was able to hold Calvin scorless until the 65th minute when Paige Capel slipped a pass to Brianna Russell for a goal that sent the Britons to a 1-0 loss.

Albion was credited with nine shots, but only two were placed on goal. Alyssa Brooks produced the other shot on goal with less than 90 seconds remaining. Sarnecky and Caroline Eagan finished with two shots apiece for the Britons.

Calvin forced Albion goalkeeper Maggie Troost to make six saves.

Next up for Albion is a Saturday night match at Hope College.
