Albion Wins MIAA 800 Free Relay Title

HOLLAND, Mich. – Sebastian Tostado, David Alday, Parker Belmore and Derek Bosko all produced lifetime-best swims as Albion College started the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships with a dominating win in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

The Britons achieved a NCAA Division III Championship 'B' cut time of 6:46.10 and finished 5 ½ seconds in front of Calvin.

Tostado started with a school-record time of 1:40.71, allowing Alday to swim ahead of the field. Alday finished his 200-yard swim in 1:42.57, Belmore completed his leg in 1:41.29, and Bosko finished it off in 1:41.53.

"What was great was they swam smart races," Albion Head Coach Jake Taber said. "I started to smile once David finished. We let Parker and Derek pour it on late."

The meet will continue Thursday with the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 yard freestyle, women's 3-meter diving and the 400 medley relay.
