HOLLAND, Mich. – Abigail Slager, Madison Vaive and Kylene Slocum achieved lifetime-best swims as Albion College claimed fourth place in the women's 800-yard freestyle relay on the opening night of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships.

Albion's final time was 8:01.15. Slager started the race in 1:59.55. Laura Steavenson completed the second leg in 2:00.65. Vaive completed her leg in 1:59.98, and Slocum brought it home in 2:00.97.

Calvin won the race in 7:40.06.

The meet will continue Thursday with the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 yard freestyle, women's 3-meter diving and the 400 medley relay.
