BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – First-year golfer Justin Leeds made an impressive debut with a round of 78 for the Albion College men's golf team in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
Albion's low round came from Connor Maddalena. He completed his round in 74 strokes to place 12th on the individual leaderboard. It was his second-best round in MIAA competition, trailing only a score of 73 at the Watermark Golf Club in Grand Rapids last fall.
Tyler Covell and Jake Hinkle added scores of 80 and 83, respectively, to complete Albion's fifth-place total of 315.
Calvin College and Hope College finished atop the team standings with rounds of 293. Kalamazoo College was third at 297, followed by Trine University at 303.
The third MIAA Jamboree of the season is Saturday at Alma's Pine River Country Club.
