HOLLAND, Mich. – Albion College finished first or second in all but one swimming event as it got its first look at its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals in a relay meet.
Albion finished first in the 200 backstroke relay (Alec Nyboer, Nate Kozycki, Ian Moran and Parker Belmore), the 500 freestyle relay (Troy Trombley, Matt Anderson, Belmore and Mac Robertson), the 200 butterfly relay (Sebastian Tostado, Kozycki, Nyboer, and Derek Bosko), and the 200 freestyle relay (Robertson, Bosko, Belmore and Anderson).
Anderson's anchor split of 21.91 seconds allowed Albion to hang on for a close victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.58). Bosko pushed Albion into the lead when he completed the second leg in 21.05 seconds.
"Matt stepped up," Albion Head Coach Jake Taber said. "I was excited with the way he approached and competed in his events."
Albion finished second in the 200 medley relay, 200 breaststroke relay and the 400 medley relay.
Albion returns to dual meets next Friday when it travels to Muncie, Ind., to challenge Division I Ball State University.
