Box Score NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Albion College was feeling especially stingy Tuesday, holding Saint Mary's College without a shot on goal in taking a 4-0 victory over its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival in women's soccer.
Albion scored the only goal it would need 33 seconds into the match when Alex Radzville pounced on a ball that deflected off the goalkeeper. Molly Hancock took the initial shot to gain credit for her first assist of the season.
Domenique Sarnecky produced the 30th goal of her Albion career when she got her head on a pass from Sarah Castellano in the 13th minute.
Sarnecky dished out the assist on Radzville's second goal of the first half.
Taylor Shrader completed the scoring. She collected her first goal of the season in the 64th minute.
"I was excited to see us play well against an improved Saint Mary's team," Albion Head Coach Eric Scott said after his team improved to 4-6-1 overall and 3-6 against MIAA rivals. "Getting the early goal was helpful, and I thought we were positive all day."
The box score reports Albion dominated the contest, finishing with a 27-6 edge in total shots. Radzville was credited with five shots, placing four on goal. Hancock took four shots, and Sarnecky, Shrader and Emily Wolford all had three shots.
It was Albion's third clean sheet of the season, and the first of the season for goalkeeper Megan Bricely.
Scott hopes the Britons can carry the momentum gained from today's victory into a Saturday contest at Alma College.
