Britons Never Let Up

ALBION, Mich. – The Albion College women's tennis team scored a 8-1 victory over Trine University to improve to 9-2 overall and 2-0 against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals.

Albion faced little resistance in sweeping the doubles matches.

Chrissy Gauss and Lauren Solano improved to 9-2 with a 8-4 victory over Kaitlin Black and Kinnsey Pass in the No. 2 flight. Lauren Rasmussen and Heather Vogt are 8-3 after a 8-2 victory over Tarah Brennan / Madison Hatkevich in the No. 1 flight. Rachel Barry and Olivia Conover won their seventh match of the year with a 8-4 victory over Sloan Davis and Carlee Richardson at No. 3.

"There is such good chemistry on each team," Head Coach Tim Dunford said. "We got an early lead in all of the matches and never let up."

In singles, Dunford said the Britons continue to excel at cutting down unforced errors. Vogt, Solano, Rasmussen, Gauss and Conover all won their matches in straight sets.

"We've been working on being patient and working each point," Dunford said. "We are creating a short ball and then attacking it. We're capitalizing on the majority of the opportunities we're creating in both singles and doubles."

Albion will travel for its next two MIAA contests, starting with a Tuesday date at Calvin College.
