Breaking In New House

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College opened its new Davis Athletic Complex Sunday as the women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Central (Iowa) College.

Albion scored seven minutes into the contest as Domenique Sarnecky broke free for a one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper. Sarnecky finished the play for her second goal in as many matches this season. Jenna Urso was credited with the assist on the play.

Central scored the equalizer midway through the second half as Kallie Holte was at the post to accept a crossing pass from Kayla Sunvold.

Urso had a pair of glorious scoring opportunities for Albion in overtime, but was unable to score.

"Central knew the pressure of playing in overtime," Albion Head Coach Eric Scott said of Central's 3-2 overtime loss to Alma College on Saturday. "I'm glad we had this opportunity to play against a team that mirrors the quality of our opponents in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association."

The box score reports as evenly played contest as both teams were credited with 11 shots and seven shots on goal. Urso finished with five shots, including four on goal.

Albion will jump into MIAA play at 5 p.m. Wednesday with a home contest against Saint Mary's College.
