CHICAGO, Ill. – Nate Kozycki achieved the third-fastest time in the nation at this point of the season in the 100-yard butterfly as Albion College swimmers completed a grueling three-day meet hosted by the University of Chicago.
Kozycki achieved the top qualifying time – 49.50 seconds – and went on to finish third in the evening championship race at 49.84.
Kozycki also turned in the low split as Albion achieved a fifth place performance in the 400 freestyle relay. Parker Belmore turned in a 47.61 leadoff split and he was followed by Kozycki (46.73), Jake Huttenlocher (46.99) and Evan Wonner (48.17) for a 3:09.50 finish.
Albion had two swimmers on the starting blocks – Ian Moran and Belmore – in the 100 backstroke. Moran finished sixth (52.41) and Belmore was eighth (53.02).
Huttenlocher took fifth place in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.85).
Divers Jake Burris and Tai Sims scored for Albion in the 1-meter event. Burris was second with a 453.05 total, while Sims was seventh at 395.50.
The Britons return to action with a Dec. 1-2 meet at Eastern Michigan University.
