Women's Tennis Continues Winning Ways

ALBION, Mich. – While the final score reports Albion College defeated Olivet College, 8-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's tennis match, it does not reflect the resistance the Britons encountered in each match.

Chrissy Gauss and Lauren Rasmussen, Albion's No. 1 doubles team, was down 7-6 and Olivet was on serve trying to close out the match. The Britons came back to win, 9-7.

Olivia Conover and Lauren Solano, Albion's No. 2 doubles team, also won 9-7, and the No. 3 doubles team of Kirsten Moore and Marceline Redick were forced to pull out a tiebreaker.

Rasmussen and Solano split sets with their singles opponents before eventually winning.

Gauss turned in Albion's most decisive singles win, defeating her opponent at No. 4 singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-1. Redick and Kirstin Moore also won in straight sets.

Albion, winners of its last three matches to improve to 6-7 overall and 3-0 against MIAA rivals, is preparing for a Sunday match at Trine University.
