Swimmers Enjoy Open Water Championship

LAWRENCE, Kansas – A group of Albion College swimmers launched the 2017-18 season by competing in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America's Open Water Championship on Lone Star Lake.

"The level of competition was impressive," Albion Coach Jake Taber said. "It was a fantastic experience for our group and why we want to continue coming to the meet. It was both eye opening and exciting. The women had a more calm race setting than the men had two hours later."

Albion had the only Division III swimmers in the women's field. Katie Ferrero and Megan Harvey settled into the pack to finish 46th and 47th, respectively. Ferrero completed the course in 1:14:20. Harvey achieved a time of 1:15:09.

Camila Manrique also swam for the Britons, completing her race in 1:23:04.

Mac Robertson and Kyle Harvey were the leading men for Albion, finishing a minute apart. Robertson's final time was 1:13:01. Ian Moran (1:21:26), Chris Breen (1:22:49) and Nate Kozycki (1:22:49) also represented the Britons.
