Women's Soccer battles to the finish

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College didn't get the result it desired Sunday afternoon – it absorbed a 4-3 setback to Capital University in the non-league women's soccer match – but it can build from several positive moments in the contest.

The Britons displayed a competitive fire, battling back to score the equalizer twice.

Clare Kelley's shot from the right side glanced off the bottom of the crossbar and bounced down into the goal as Albion drew even, 1-1 in the 17th minute.

Kelley stuck again, bending a free kick from 25 yards out to make the score 2-2 in the 48th minute.

Albion actually scored twice in the first 5 ½ minutes of the second half. Alex Radzville produced her first goal of the season, finishing a pass from Kameryn Szalay, boosting the Britons to a 3-2 lead.

Casey King and Holly Barlage scored the second half goals as Capital bounced back to take the victory.

Despite falling behind with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, Albion worked to level the score. Riley Burnette placed a shot on goal and the Britons were awarded a corner kick.

Goalkeeper Megan Bricely was active, making 11 saves.

Albion, 3-4-1 overall, will square off against another member of the Ohio Athletic Conference – Wilmington College – on Saturday.
