Box Score ALBION, Mich. – The crossbar was not friendly to Albion College Tuesday night.
Albion generated 13 shots, however, the best attempts sailed just over the crossbar and the Britons failed to score in a 2-0 loss to Kalamazoo College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer action at Alumni Field.
The loss snaps Albion's three-match winning streak and drops the Britons to 3-1 against MIAA rivals. Albion will hit the road Saturday for a 2 p.m. match at Olivet College.
Albion paused to recognize its two seniors – Riley Burnette and Emily Wolford – before the match, but Kalamazoo spoiled the celebration right away as Libby Munoz scored 30 seconds into the match. Munoz, running in the center of the field, touched a pass from Josie Sibley for her fourth goal of the season.
Munoz scored again in the 33rd minute to complete the scoring for the night. That shot, from the outside, sailed over the Albion goalkeeper.
Albion's best scoring chance in the first half was a blast by Rayna Edwards that didn't miss the crossbar by much. Kaitlyn Piontkowsky and Wolford placed shots on goal in the first half.
Burnette and Wolford placed attempts on frame in the second half.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
