Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – Frontcourt mates Caden Ebeling and Quinton Armstrong scored in double figures Friday night, but Albion College came away with a 71-52 loss to the University of Mount Union in the opening game of the men's basketball season for both teams.
Ebeling finished with 16 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Armstrong added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Collen Gurley knocked down a pair of 3-point baskets in the first 2 ½ minutes as Mount Union scored the first eight points and never trailed in the game.
Albion hung around most of the night, trailing by just six when Milton Barnes scored from 3-point range with seven minutes left in regulation.
Albion scored two points the rest of the way as Mount Union pulled away for the victory.
Albion will travel to Ohio again next weekend for games against Ohio Wesleyan University and Capital University.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
