CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Jake Burris has work to do Saturday to qualify for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships for the fourth time.

The Albion College senior finished seventh in the 3-meter competition on the first day of the NCAA Regional meet at Wabash College.

Burris was hanging with the leaders through seven rounds. His inward 2 ½ somersault tuck netted 51.30 points.

It was a reverse 2 ½ in the ninth round with a 3.0 degree of difficulty in the ninth round that proved costly. He earned 28.50 points and that was not enough in a crowded field.

Burris finished with a 455.05 total, but needed just 3.35 points to pass the diver who finished fourth.
