Britons Fall Short at Adrian

Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich. - It was an Adrian layup with two seconds left in regulation that sealed their victory as the Britons drop their second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest of the season by a score of 79-78. Seven lead changes and nine ties tells you how close of a contest the Britons had today. With Albion leading by as many as 12 and Adrian leading by as many as eight, it was a game that continued to go back and forth to the end.

It was an uphill battle for most of the first half as the Britons took their first lead since the second minute of the game on a free throw by Jamezell Davis, Jr. Albion cut into multiple leads by the Bulldogs throughout the first half and kept themselves within striking distance going into halftime trailing 37-36. It was 15 rebounds and 24 points by Caden Ebeling that helped give Albion a shot down the stretch. Ebeling records his sixth double-double of the season.

A strong start to the second-half put Albion up 12 mid-way through. Just like Albion in the first half, Adrian didn't quit and were able to slowly chip away at the Britons lead over the last 11 minutes of the half. The Bulldogs eventually took back the lead with 2:42 left in regulation on two free-throws from Robert Warrick. With seven seconds left and the Britons down two, Jamezell Davis, Jr. converted on an and-1 layup to give the Britons a one-point lead. After a Bulldogs timeout, it was a layup by Jordan Harris that gave Adrian the lead and eventually the win.

Despite the Briton's loss, they have clinched a share of the MIAA and will host the post-season championship tournament. The Britons will look to win the regular-season title outright on Wednesday as they host Trine for a 7:30 PM tip.
