Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Good Knight! WSOC knocks off No. 25 Calvin on Senior Night

ALBION -- 1,834 days. That's the gap since the last time the Albion College women's soccer team defeated Calvin University.

On Senior Night Wednesday evening, the Britons defeated the No. 25 nationally ranked Knights by a 2-0 margin. The win improves Albion to 9-2-1 overall, 4-1-1 in the conference. The Britons handed Calvin their first conference loss, as the Knights slip to 10-3-0, 5-1 in the MIAA.

It didn't take long for the Britons to get on the board, as Avery Campbell netted her third goal of the season just three minutes in. The sophomore connected on a shot from an awkward angle, giving the hosts the early advantage.

After holding that lead at the half, the Brits doubled the lead on a timely goal from Alaina Graham. The freshman's first collegiate goal was buried on a cross from Rayna Edwards

Junior goalkeeper Romee Natschke collected her fifth clean sheet of the year, second straight. She totaled four saves in the win.

"We beat a well-coached team tonight," said head coach Eric Scott. "Our back line, holding mids and goalkeeper did a great job at executing the game plan Darus [Ward] came up with."

Prior to the match, the Britons honored its five seniors -- Lexi Taylor, Rachael Pustelak, Maddie Ryan, Athena LeVigne and Ashlyn Wetzel.

Albion won't have much time to celebrate the win, as they'll travel to Trine on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff against the Thunder is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
