ALBION -- It was a tough day for the Albion College men's soccer team, dropping a 3-1 decision at the hands of Trine University. Prior to the match, the Britons honored their six seniors --
Reese Stuart,
Bryce Vandenburg,
Zabith Wilson,
Moses Jatta,
Jason Warras and
Spencer Moeggenberg.
Albion falls to 4-7-2, 2-3-1 in the MIAA. The Thunder improves to 8-7-1, 3-2-1 in conference play.
The Thunder got on the board early and added their second in the second half. The Britons could not find any offensive momentum, as Trine controlled most of the match. A third Thunder goal late put the match out of reach.
Albion's bright spot came in the 85th minute when Moeggenberg followed up a rebound on a PK with his third goal of the season.
Albion has another chance late, but could not cut the deficit any further.
The Brits hit the road on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season at Calvin. Playoff hopes are still very much in reach, as the top six seeds advance to the conference tournament. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
