Women's soccer suffers tough loss

Box Score

ALBION -- A five-minute lapse was all it took as the Albion College women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 contest to Alma College. The Britons move to 1-1, 1-1 in the MIAA on the young, condensed season.

Albion took a 1-0 lead off a goal by Rayna Edwards in the first half. The sophomore dribbled through two Alma defenders before finding the back of the net. The Britons kept the 1-0 advantage heading into the half.

In the 68th minute, Alma found the equalizer on a free kick. Less than five minutes later, the Scots took the lead for good with a goal in the 73rd minute.

The Britons had their chances, outshooting Alma, 20-7. Albion could not find the equalizer down the stretch and force the match into overtime.

Haley Demers made four saves for the Brits.

Albion will travel to Hope on Thursday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
